Always leave at the top

I’ve been away for April break this year on this wonderful island, Mustique, with my partner. Our days consist of about three naps, a lunch break, our daily activity, and the sweet exhaustion of doing nothing under the palm trees.

(Non-member? Read here.)

We are leaving in a day, and oh, we don’t want to go. And it made me reflect on how it’s the perfect time to leave, when we still want to stay more!

I met this very successful lawyer on the island, and she was looking into giving her career a turn while still being at the top.

You want to exit the game you don’t want the game to exit you.

This should apply to a lot.

Don’t wait until things get boring before taking action. It’s already too late.

Having the ability to make a choice, that is the privilege, the success, where the real willpower takes place.

Don’t leave when it’s over. Don’t end it when you meet a cul-de-sac. Make decisions at intersections. It reinforces any decision you make, and it leaves behind a great legacy.

“She was great. She’ll be missed.” instead of… “It was time. She had a great run.”
