Is it sharia law that they want or to silence other faiths?

But the real issue isn’t even about El-Rufai or his children. It’s the silence, the total silence from the same Arewa voices that normally call for lynching at the slightest perceived offense to their faith.

The same people who justified the lynching of Deborah over a WhatsApp audio suddenly can’t find their voice now. Why? Because the children of the powerful are magically immune to the radicalism they impose on the poor.

Let’s be honest, If an ordinary northern Muslim openly became an atheist or converted to Christianity, he wouldn’t last 24 hours. We’ve all heard testimonies from Binta, from Muhammad, and others, ordinary people hunted like criminals just for thinking differently.

Yet the loudest voices keep crying, “We want Sharia!” Is it really Sharia you want? Or is it the power to intimidate people of other faiths? Because excitement they display while destroying bottles of alcohol is the same excitement they show when lynching an innocent person like Deborah.

This isn’t hatred for Western civilization. It’s an addiction to domination, the urge to bully, to silence, to control.

Look at Pakistan. They broke away from India in the name of religion, yet today they can’t produce one-tenth of India’s output or global contributions. Turn the entire China into a theocracy today and watch how innovation collapses overnight.

At this point, it’s no longer about individuals, It’s the culture, the ideology, the system that rewards intolerance for the poor but bends the rules for the children of the elite.

And that hypocrisy is the real problem.
