How to get your Shram Swikriti (labor permit) online in Nepal?

The process of applying for a work permit is mandatory for working abroad, and the permit is issued electronically (E-Sticker).

The Department of Foreign Employment checks your employment contract (minimum wage, working hours, and medical coverage) to make sure it is fair and prevent things from happening to workers. It helps workers get insurance, which means workers are protected in case something bad happens to them. It also helps workers get assistance from the government if they are having problems.

Step-by-Step Online Shram Swikriti Process

1. Register/Login: a. Go to https://feims.dofe.gov.np/. b. Click on Login on the foreign employment side. c. Enter your passport number and click on Next. d. Choose your birth date and click on the register button. [Note: If you have already registered, it asks for a password, which is usually 123, 1234, 12345, etc.] e. Enter your email address or mobile number, and you will receive an OTP code. f. Check your mobile or email for the OTP, type it in, and click verify. Now, you can enter your passport number as your username and password to access the dashboard.
2. Fill in Application Details: Enter your personal information such as name, marriage status, address, contact details, citizenship, passport number, visa details, employment contract details, and family information. [Note: All boxes with an asterisk sign (*) must be filled correctly.]
3. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of the required documents, which typically include a valid passport, work visa/entry visa, employment contract, embassy letter, agreement/visa verification letter and other supporting documents. [Note: You can get rejection after applying if the documents are not scanned properly.]
4. Pay Fees: Pay the required fees (orientation, medical, welfare fund, insurance, and social security fund) online using digital banking or payment wallets (eSewa, Khalti, IME Pay, etc.). [Note: You don’t need to pay for orientation and medical if you are renewing the labor permit.]
5. Preview & Confirm: If you send information that does not match the uploaded documents, your application will be rejected. Please check the information you have entered before clicking next, and if you find any mistyped or wrong information, change it. After completing all the steps above, select the foreign employment office nearest to you. After this, choose a date that has a token remaining.
6. Submit & Await Approval: Once submitted, you can see the status as submitted on the dashboard. The application is processed within 24 to 72 hours. [Note: If rejected, edit the application on the basis of remarks until it gets approved.]
7. Download E-Sticker: Once approved, you can print or download your digital labor permit sticker.

The labor permit generally aligns with your contract period, which is typically 2 years. So, employers must submit a renewal application at least 30 days before the current work permit expires.
