Life Imitates Art As Homelander Declares Himself God In “The Boys”

The Amazon Prime TV series “The Boys” is often a case of art imitating life, but sometimes it gets ahead of life, and life imitates the art. For those unfamiliar with this series it is a set in a world where a comparative few (but still many) are “super heroes” displaying myriad super powers. Only most are not heroes (though the corporate controlled media portrays them as such), but rather very evil villains. Many are certifiably insane.

The most insane, evil and powerful of all is “Homelander” a hero with essentially Superman’s powers, right down to the laser beam eyes, flying, super strength and nearly complete invulnerability. As his name (and his red, white and blue uniform) suggests Homelander presents himself as an America First patriot.

His rallies in the series quite intentionally mirror the appearance of MAGA rallies, right down to the red hats and “USA” chants. That’s the art imitating life. His speeches, riling up hate for foreigners, and promising to save America sound like they are coming right out of Trump’s mouth. Here’s an example from Season 1:

However, in the just released Season 5, Episode 4, Homelander takes his certifiably insane God complex to the literal extreme. As he explains to one of his fellow “supe” followers, he believes he is no longer serving God, but is God.

This comes less than two weeks after, and had to be filmed long before, Trump’s depiction of himself as Jesus Christ in a Truth Social post.
