Angela Rayner, Taxes, and the Politics of Hypocrisy… 🤬

One thing that frustrates me most about politics is the double standards.

Time and again, we see politicians with limited business or economic experience making sweeping decisions that impact millions of hardworking people. They raise taxes, add red tape, and lecture us about “contributing more to society.” 🤯

But when the tables turn? The rules always seem a little more flexible for them.

Take Angela Rayner.

She just bought a flat in Brighton for £800,000. Fair enough. But instead of paying the £70,000 stamp duty she should have, she only paid £30,000. Why? Because she declared it her “main home.”

At the same time, up in Manchester, she’s told the local council that her property there is also her “main home.” The outcome? A reduced council tax bill.

So let me get this straight:

Two different properties.

Both claimed as “main homes.”

Lower tax bills on both sides.

Now, this is the same Angela Rayner who is quick to criticise the wealthy for “dodging their fair share” of tax. 🤯

Does that not sound a little hypocritical?

For me, it raises a bigger question about standards. If the people making the rules can bend them to suit their own wallets, what message does that send to the rest of us?

We can’t build a thriving economy on one set of rules for politicians and another set for the public. 🤯

So which is it, Ange? And when will our politicians start living by the same standards they demand from us?
