The 2024 WNBA Draft will be one of the most inspirational and impactful drafts in the history of the league. With Caitlin Clark leading the way, several other players followed. Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, Kate Martin, and many others went to their respective teams.
In the case of Cameron Brink, the young forward on the Los Angeles Sparks is still trying to find her game. It has been a rough few seasons for Brink as she continues her comeback from the ACL injury that derailed her rookie season.
The Inconsistencies of Cameron Brink
Performance against the Las Vegas Aces
In the 2026 WNBA season opener, Brink struggled mightily. In the 105–78 loss to the Las Vegas Aces, Brink was limited in the game due to foul trouble and could not seem to find any rhythm on offense or defense.
In the eight minutes she played, she did not score, but grabbed three rebounds. She also had three turnovers and three fouls. Reports also indicated that head coach Lynne Roberts was harsh and blunt about her performance.
Roberts had this to say in an article by Yahoo Sports about Brink’s performance:
“I mean, we need Cam to produce. We need Cam to bring that defensive energy. We have so much confidence and belief in her. She’s got to get on the floor with some confidence and do what she’s capable of doing. But we’re going to need her. Part of the beginning of season two is figuring out rotations and chemistry and all the things. We looked like we just didn’t have a lot of floor chemistry out there. Vegas did. They’ve also played together for years, right? And it’s not an excuse, but it’s just a reality.”

Brink’s New Reserve Role in 2026
According to USA Today, Brink started 15 games for the Sparks in 2024, but the season-ending ACL injury ended all chances of her potential for that campaign. Before the injury, Brink was averaging 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 2.3 blocks per contest.
Brink missed most of the 2025 WNBA season recovering. She is still trying to find her footing with the Sparks’ team that has added depth to their roster.
At the start of this season, she has come off the bench. This was something that she was not used to. But with the addition of veteran star Nneka Ogwumike, this has moved Brink to a reserved role with players like forward Dearica Hamby.
Improvements and Tips for Brink
The Sparks may be off to a slow start. But there is still plenty of time to change the season around after the first game of the season. Brink knows there is a lot that she can do to get better. The team has decided to pick up her fourth-year option to keep her in L.A. in 2027.

Despite the struggles that she has been facing, she continues to be one of the top-marketed players in the WNBA, according to Yahoo Sports. With multiple partnerships with top sponsors and a strong social media presence, she is worth an estimated $2 million according to Fox.
But if she continues not to play as well as she has before, do not be surprised if the Los Angeles Sparks continue to move in a different direction.
