Living in Fear: Minnesota’s Immigrant Crisis Under Operation Metro Surge

Minnesota’s immigrant citizens have been living in fear — afraid to leave their homes, speak out, or even go about their daily lives since “Operation Metro Surge” began.

After witnessing the deaths of Renee Nicole Good, who was shot in the face, Alex Jeffrey Pretti, who was sprayed with a chemical irritant, tackled, and then shot multiple times while he was on the ground, the crisis has only deepened.

We witnessed what happened to Renee Nicole Good. She was shot in the face. It was terrible. Then I saw what happened to Alex Jeffrey Pretti. He was sprayed with some kind of chemical and was tackled to the ground. They then shot him multiple times while he was lying there. Since then, things have only gotten worse. The crisis is still a crisis with violence and death. It has only deepened since these terrible things happened to Renee Nicole Good, Alex Jeffrey Pretti, and more.

ICE was a central part of the Trump Administration’s plan to “Make America Great Again.” Still, nothing about the recent federal surge in Minnesota feels great to the people living there, especially when agents that are “Too lazy to be a soldier and too stupid to be a cop” are being sent to MN just to harass and wrongfully detain citizens of color.

Many individuals oppose this due to concerns about unfair treatment by the police. They argue that officers are stopping individuals based on appearance or accent rather than real, legitimate reasons. The approach taken by "Operation Metro Surge" has resulted in excessive force and unnecessary arrests, highlighting a significant problem in policing practices.

It’s amusing to think that Trump and his supporters hate immigrants when technically all Americans are immigrants, given the fact that we live on land stolen from native americans.

Ultimately, Operation Metro Surge has left Minnesota’s immigrant communities afraid to live their lives, showing how harsh policing and unchecked federal enforcement can disrupt daily routines and weaken trust in authorities.
