UI vs UX — Common Design Interview Question
This is one of the most asked interview questions — and most beginners over-explain it.
Here’s the simplest, clearest way I usually answer it.
UI vs UX (Simple Explanation)
UX (User Experience) is about how something works. UI (User Interface) is about how it looks and feels.
UX = structure, flow, logic UI = visuals, typography, spacing, interactions
How I Answer in Interviews
“UX decides the path. UI decides how enjoyable that path feels.”
Quick Example
Ordering food on Zomato:
- UX: finding the restaurant quickly, smooth checkout, clear delivery info
- UI: colors, spacing, icons, buttons, images
A beautiful UI with confusing UX fails. A strong UX with terrible UI feels unpleasant.
You need both.
✅After appearing for 20+ Product design & UI/UX interviews, I noticed a pattern. 90% interviews repeat the same questions and frameworks.
So I turned everything I learned — common questions, answer structures, critique methods, portfolio rules, into a cheat sheet: **Cracking the Product Designer / UI UX Interview — Playbook 🚀**
