WHAT A NOBLE CAUSE LOOKS LIKE?

Ever wondered, how NGOs contribute to a greater societal change. l too was curious about what sets them apart from the ordinary government schemes for public welfare until l worked with Pehchaan The Street School. On a random night opened my LinkedIn account and came across the post on the official Linkedln page of Pehchaan The Street School about hiring interns. That got me curious and made me slide into the profile and as l went through its posts and mission it made me land straight into its dm to look for opportunities for becoming a small part of the noble cause of imparting education to children from socially and economically deprived sections since every child deserve a chance to dream, learn and build its own Pehchaan. And there it begun! Education, they say, is the key to all opportunities, however, there’s more to education than mere access. It's an identity. For most deprived children their learning journey is an erratic course with discontinuity and lack of resources & mentorship. In essence its about consistent learning, a vision that Pehchaan The Street School believes in. Beyond just having access to education the organization ensures their children receive a continuous learning, well structured pedagogy and a consistent system of support.

Understanding Pehchaan The Street School:

Pehchaan The Street School is a registered non-profit organisation based in Delhi NCR and they provide free education to underprivileged children because they believe in Every child deserves a chance to shape their own future. Based across several centres and having quite many centres as an open-air teaching learning environment, the organization believes in educating all irrespective of their financial constraints or infrastructure deficiency. More than teaching basics, they focus on:

Ensuring consistent academical development through frequent interactions Keeping them motivated in a disciplined learning atmosphere and environment. Providing mentorship and career guidance. Enabling learning in a secure and friendly environment be provided towards student programs, study materials and books. A tangible difference Individual contributions can make sure continued teaching, resources and mentorship . We are open to sponsorships ,donations or any type of contribution that one feels like contributing towards betterment of these children. For instance Pehchaan The Street School educates more than 1600 children across all its centres. Now you must be wondering how's this even relevant remarking that a notebook costs about 30 rupees. Here's the connection, each child is provided 2 notebooks each month which makes a total of more than 3200 notebooks and how much would it cost to the organization more than 96000 rupees for notebooks alone not considering stationery and other resources. Ever wondered from where they get it from? Through each helping hand that contributes to the overall smooth functioning of the organization.

International Volunteers

International volunteers have come from all across the globe and lent their helping hand to support the mission of the NGO. Benefits such as enhanced awareness of other cultures and deeper understanding of other views along with academic enrichment of volunteers are gained in this program.

Digital Presence and Community Engagement

The NGO keeps on sharing their updates regarding programs and initiatives via Instagram, their own website and through LinkedIn to make the society aware about the NGO and children and their amazing work. Sustaining real impact, most of the NGOs which are initiated with great zeal soon fall away; the sustainability factor at Pehchaan The Street School is a result of a collective team spirit, which can be attributed to the students, volunteers , interns and teachers all contributing to the development of an organism that has constant and progressive growth.
