Ron DeSantis, 2024 is no more.

Last year, I actually worried that DeSantis might beat trump. So popular in Florida that they nicknamed him “Defuture.” What the heck!?! Now I had reasons to worry about family members who were left in Florida. I’d already had two die on me because of COVID and lack of confidence in the vaccine. And I know that a lot of that had to do with DeSantis.
I thought he was cruel when he did not need to be. Tricking people into registering to vote and then having them arrested because they technically were not supposed to be eligible. Telling high schoolers to take off their masks as their parents worried about them possibly catching the deadly disease and the kids being too afraid and too polite to say no.
Losing two family members to the combined impact of COVID and vaccine hesitancy had left me deeply affected. I couldn’t help but reflect on how much of this predicament could be attributed to DeSantis and his policies.
Old-fashioned Miami liberals are ready to dance about on his political grave singing Hallelujah! He has made it possible to swing Florida back to being a purple state with his egregious abortion bill of six weeks restrictions.
Strangely enough I’ve been thinking about the comparison between DeSantis and that most hated character on the Wire, Cheese. In both cases they betray the boss of their organization and they’re quickly exposed as incompetent and not deserving of being at the helm. Say what you want about trump at least he’s got some kind of charisma and shameless glad handing that makes people feel he’s being authentic. In any case in both Cheese and DeSantis are quickly disposed of. Only in the Wire it’s just a fictional character being murdered and in real life politics it’s a guy having to go home and spend more time with his family.
Ephemeral Success: “Cheese” experiences a swift downfall after seemingly gaining control, paralleling the idea that political success can be fleeting. In the case of DeSantis, the comparison could suggest that political victories and popularity may not guarantee sustained success.
Now it’s time to chant that favorite football chant to the grumpy faced loser:
Nana na na na na na na hey hey goodbye.
I couldn’t be gladder. His arrogance and smugness when he went all out on the so-called woke crowd was ridiculously irritating. His shipments of migrants to the North when he knew very well most of them would just get a Goodwill or Salvation Army bus ticket back to their Venezuelan friends in Florida made me realize just how fake he could be.
Many of trump’s Maga base hate him because they feel like he should have waited until 2028 when they would have eagerly backed him because trump would have been done with his second term.
