Tucson Love Letter is proof that one person can change a community

Gloria Knott grew up in Tucson, never left, and never stopped loving it. Now she’s on a mission to make sure everyone else feels the same way.

“I write about the magic of Tucson,” she says, describing her community-first publication that covers everything from mutual aid groups to weekend events and local artists.

As founder of Tucson Love Letter, Knott isn’t just sharing what’s happening in the city. She’s giving people a reason to show up. The events she curates and hosts have quickly become a gathering point for Tucsonans looking to connect.

Di Luna Candles owner Maria Jose Cortes, whose shop has hosted several Tucson Love Letter events, has seen it firsthand.

“The community that Gloria’s creating is very genuine,” Cortes said, “and people are really excited and interested in the events that she’s sharing about.”

The proof is in the people who keep coming back. One community member shared that a dating event introduced them to new friends, and that Tucson Love Letter has since brought them closer to their existing ones too.

For Knott, that’s exactly the goal, a publication where anyone can find an event, a community space, and something they love. “I just hope that it helps build community,” she said.
