Stop Being “Affordable”

Being “affordable” is not helping you….. and it certainly is not helping your client either….

Assume you are a talented young designer with three years of expertise in the field of graphic design. You now have a client that has requested that you design a logo with quite extensive specifications.

With your three years of experience as a graphic designer, you already know what to do to ensure that client needs are handled effectively.

The difficulty is that you have never met a client who asks for a lot in your three years as a designer, therefore you don’t know how to position yourself as a great designer.

As a result, while negotiating the price, you establish a price that is too low for a design with many specifications. simply to ensure that your design is accepted by the client.

You can infer from the above story that you will receive client pleasure. However, you appear to be dropping your experience and quality in public. When your client has recently spoken with another business partner and the client partner also wants to use your services, they will charge the same amount. like if you were shot right away

Concentrate on value rather than cost. This can free up funds to spend on higher-quality instruments that are more expensive but last longer and are more enjoyable to use.

Create a proper, all-inclusive financial plan. Aside from the numerous other reasons to do so, once you know exactly how much you need to be putting aside on a regular basis to attain your goals, you will also know that everything else is available to be enjoyed.

Have a long conversation (or several) with yourself to define your ideal person/friend. If it includes a Scrooge-like fixation on the pennies, accept that this will most likely always be a part of you. If, on the other hand, your ideal is one of greater generosity (of spirit and/or resources), attempt to become this ideal person/friend and play the role you would expect them to play in any situation.

Thrift is a virtue (albeit not the sole one, as your question implies), but it is not the only virtue. Remember to work on all of your other virtue’muscles’ as you go. And look for methods to find joy in doing the “un-cheap” things.

Being cheap is not a desirable trait, and I’d rather be recognized for being wise and giving with my money than for being frugal.

For example, it is undoubtedly beneficial to share meals with friends, offer thoughtful wedding gifts to individuals you care about, and assist those in need. None of those activities, however, should ever put you in debt or cause you financial hardship.

So, it’s a fine line and balancing act to be financially savvy without coming across as someone who never spends money on anything.

However, the preceding is not the same as “beneficial to others.” It is possible if we modify the context to be kind. It is only necessary to recall that what has been done has evolved into a mature decision.

The meeting point in the center of you and the client becomes critical. Keep in mind that all of the preceding necessitates exceptional negotiation abilities. You may determine the appropriate pricing without jeopardizing your comprehension of the client.
