Reliance Jio’s new plan offers 36 days of validity, Airtel launched a new plan at ₹33, TRAI shared worrying data of VI & BSNL, Starlink’s update about the plans, a true competitor of other telecom operators.

Now let’s talk about the plan that Airtel has launched recently. There’s nothing much to describe. The old plan is updated and seen with new features to grab the attention of consumers. Airtel has launched two new plans that look attractive but contain a major catch: once the daily data limit is exhausted, additional data usage is charged at ₹500 per GB. Which does not seem like a good movement for an operator like Airtel. The ₹500 will be charged from the balance of the consumers at that time. So the first plan is the ₹39 Plan, which offers 3GB of daily data for 3 days. It means we will receive a total of 9GB of data with this plan, which seems like a budget-friendly plan, but once the 3GB is finished, you are charged ₹500 per GB. This is an addition that most of the customers don’t expect from them. The next plan we can see is the ₹33 Plan, which offers 2GB of data with 1-day validity. This is also a good budget-friendly data booster plan, but the additional conditions that come with the plan are not acceptable in this situation. If you use an additional 1GB after the limit, ₹500 will be cut from your balance. I can’t exactly say if they have any other benefit with the plan. If it seems exactly like this, then this is not right to charge this much for 1GB of data usage.

Now the next update is from Reliance Jio. Which silently launched a new 36-day plan without any announcement or drama. We could expect at least an announcement on the Myjio app about the plan, but nothing is there. The plan is actually, instead of 28 days, they are giving a 36-day plan. Which could be a good option for those who don’t want to recharge for 1 month or 2 months. They want to stay in the middle of them. The logic of which is unclear to me at this point, is that the plan is expensive. Now, why are they launching this plan, which is more expensive than the others? I don’t have any clear answer for this. I can only share the details about why I am saying the plan is more expensive than the regular one. This ₹450 plan includes 2GB of data per day for 36 days, unlimited calling, 100 SMS daily, and a Jio Hotstar subscription. A “post-mortem” of the costs shows: ₹450 plan (36 days): Costs ₹12.50 per day. Now, if we look into the same plan for 28 days, Jio offers a ₹349 plan (28 days): Costs ₹12.46 per day. It clearly shows that the 28-day plan is ₹0.4 cheaper than the 36-day plan. Now, if we compare the 36-day plan with 84 days plan, which has almost the same benefits, we have the ₹859 plan (84 days): Costs ₹10.22 per day. Which is also a way less than the 36-day plan. Now, if we jump into the other plans of 56 days, we could see the same happens here. The daily cost is high for a 36-day plan. The 56-day plan offers a ₹629 plan (56 days): Costs ₹11.23 per day. Now, this is not clear to me: why pay ₹450 for an expensive plan?. Jio should have a plan for the future about this. Hope we will get to know about that soon.

Regarding Starlink, the concept that it would be very expensive in India is changing. As almost everyone expected, the Starlink subscription price will be so high that many of us will not be able to afford it. Now it seems like Elon Musk finally got the point and is trying to share a budget-friendly plan that could be accessible to most of us. Starlink is poised to give Jio and Airtel a significant challenge because it offered a massive discount in the UK to break the monopoly of the top operator, British Telecom. In the UK, they offer a 100 Mbps connection with unlimited data at prices cheaper than British Telecom. If Starlink can do this to capture the UK market, they will 100% offer plans cheaper than Jio and Airtel’s broadband to capture the large Indian market. So, Jio and Airtel will soon come up with their cheapest plans too to capture the Indian market. Now it will be very good for us consumers to receive a good value plan at a low price. Starlink is expected to launch in India very soon and build a large subscriber base.
