How I Juggle a Full-Time Job and Still Write on Medium Every Single Day!

Perseverance!

Writing daily on Medium while holding a full-time job isn’t easy, but it has become a non-negotiable part of my routine. At first, I thought it was impossible — how could I possibly squeeze writing into already hectic days?

I work as a DevSecOps Architect, and it get super crazy most of the times. For those who aren’t sure who a DevSecOps Architect is?

Chuck It. That’s not the point.

But over time, I found a rhythm, and now I actually look forward to those moments with my laptop or phone. Here’s how I make it work.

First off, I had to really shift my mindset. Writing isn’t something “extra” or “optional” anymore. It’s my creative outlet and a way to process thoughts, so it feels as essential as any work meeting or family commitment. This attitude switch helped me prioritize writing more seriously.

Second, I stopped waiting for “perfect time” or “inspiration.” Instead, I block a small chunk — sometimes just 20 minutes — in my calendar daily and treat it like an important appointment. Early mornings work best for me because my mind is fresh, but if mornings don’t work for you, find your sweet spot. Consistency trumps length; writing a few hundred words daily adds up fast.

Hey! imperfection if okay.

Not every article is a masterpiece on the first draft, and that’s okay. Medium is about sharing genuine experiences and ideas, not literary perfection. Allowing myself to write imperfectly removes a lot of pressure and keeps the words flowing.

To keep ideas coming, I keep a running list on my phone or notes app. Whenever something sparks curiosity or a story pops up, I jot it down. This way, on tough days when inspiration wanes, I never start with a blank page.

Lastly, I remember why I write — to connect with others, learn, and express myself. That keeps me motivated even after a long day of work, when all I want is to relax. Writing gives me energy back.

Balancing a 9-to-5 job and daily writing isn’t about magic, just intention and habit. If you want to write regularly but feel overwhelmed, start small, be kind to yourself, and build your routine around what feels doable.

The rest will follow.
