Why Authenticity Matters in Gartic NOW

Gartic NOW is designed to be a space for creativity, where real people create their drawings. The platform’s base is authenticity, ensuring that every drawing is a true, human-made creation.

But what does “authentic” mean in this context? Simply put, it means that the drawing was made entirely by a person, without AI assistance or external editing tools.

We want to maintain a fair and creative environment, so all drawings are made under the same conditions, and people can use the validation system to prove the artwork’s authenticity.

How the Validation System Works

We developed a Discord bot that checks a barcode embedded at the bottom of each drawing. This barcode is a digital fingerprint, confirming that the artwork was created on Gartic NOW without modifications.

What Makes a Drawing Unauthentic?

A drawing may be considered unauthentic if:

• You use external programs — If any software is used to alter the drawing after it has been created in Gartic NOW, it will be invalidated.

• You upload a screenshot of your drawing — If you take a screenshot of your drawing, even if it is already authenticated, it will be invalidated.
• You upload other image formats—If you upload any other version of your drawing instead of the original file you downloaded at the end, it will be invalidated.

• You use the barcode in a different drawing — If you crop the barcode and add it to any other image/drawing, it will be invalidated.
• You alter the image’s compression — All images are evaluated pixel by pixel, so any alterations to the compression will invalidate it.
