Hanta Virus? Worries of a potential lockdown as a student

The recent Hanta Virus outbreak in the cruise ship- MV Hondius got me thinking if we are prepared this time? The internet has been blazing the topic with people joking to actually asking to not let the ship dock. There are about 150 passengers in the ship and all of them are potential carriers with few deaths and few suspected cases. The whole cruise ship situation could be said as rich people’s hobby endangering the whole earth. They embarked on the journey to explore places not inhabited by humans. Curiosity leads to discoveries but is it worth it if it endangers the entire population? I am not here to blame those poor people who must be really stressed right now but sometimes you gotta let the nature be by itself. It is rare and unprecedented for Hanta Virus to spread from human-to-human contact but this current outbreak is due to the Ades strain — -which spreads from human-to-human contact. Well, i am writing this because i am just frustrated. If this outbreak turns into largescale like COVID — it will affect my academics plans. I am about to start my Master’s in a far away different city and Online classes wont be very helpful when you are doing Microbiology which requires lab work. Also in recent times, people’s trust in Vaccines has lowered due to billionaires benefitting while we get nothing. A lockdown would be the perfect time for tech comanies to layoff workers and roll out AI which will replce them.
