Henna: More Than Just a Design

What comes to your mind when you hear the word henna? For me, henna is an emotion. It’s peace, style, aesthetic vibes — and something so beautiful, I can’t even fully explain it.

In some countries, henna is a deeply rooted cultural tradition. In others, it’s just seen as a trendy temporary tattoo. But for me? It’s something sacred. Something that connects hearts.

Growing up in a brown, cultural, and religious family, henna was more than just decoration — it was love. I still remember how I used to feel a little left out. So many of my friends could do henna effortlessly, creating magical patterns, while I couldn’t even draw a basic flower with the cone. One of my closest friends would always do henna for me, and I’d watch in awe.

Then everything changed when I moved to another country. I had no one to do my henna anymore. That’s when I picked up the cone for myself. At first, it was messy. My lines weren’t clean, and my hands would shake. But slowly, I got better. Day by day, flower by flower, I began to create designs that once felt impossible.

Now, I do henna for my friends, family — and even paying clients. Every Eid, my family gathers, and I’m the one decorating everyone’s hands. Watching their faces light up with joy fills me with peace. It’s the kind of happiness that sits deep in your soul.

Henna, to me, is more than just art — it’s love you can wear. It’s how we celebrate where we come from and who we are.

I truly believe there’s no one in this world who doesn’t love henna. And honestly? I’m proud — so proud — to be part of something so beautiful.
