MacGregor Wins Major Contract to Equip Nine New RoPax Vessels for Grimaldi Group Fleet Renewal

MacGregor, a global leader in cargo and load-handling solutions, has secured a significant order to supply cargo access systems for nine new RoPax vessels being built for the Grimaldi Group. The order forms an integral part of Grimaldi’s extensive fleet renewal program and includes vessels designated for Finnlines, Grimaldi Euromed, and Minoan Lines. The ships will be constructed at China Merchants Industry Weihai Shipyard Co., Ltd., marking yet another major international collaboration for MacGregor.

The order, booked in MacGregor’s third quarter of 2025, reflects a strong partnership between MacGregor and key project stakeholders. The company highlighted that the contract was secured through a collaborative design and planning process tailored to the operational needs of each shipowner and vessel segment.

The nine vessels will feature two distinct designs. Three ships intended for Finnlines will be equipped with 5,400 lane meters of cargo capacity and space for up to 1,000 passengers. These vessels will primarily serve the Baltic Sea region, supporting high-capacity freight and passenger transport across Northern Europe. The remaining six vessels — four for Grimaldi Euromed and two for Minoan Lines — will operate within the Mediterranean and Adriatic Sea networks. These ships will be built with 3,300 lane meters and the ability to carry 2,500 passengers, enhancing regional connectivity between Southern European ports.

MacGregor emphasized that this multi-vessel contract showcases the company’s ability to deliver comprehensive, efficiently engineered solutions across different vessel types. Magnus Sjöberg, Executive Vice President of MacGregor’s Merchant Solutions Division, stated that the order underscores MacGregor’s commitment to long-term customer partnerships and reinforces confidence in the company’s innovative, sustainable technologies.
