UNY Field Experience Internships at MAN 1 Yogyakarta: Sowing Competence, Gaining Experience

Yogyakarta — An emotional atmosphere enveloped the welcoming ceremony for Yogyakarta State University (UNY) Field Experience Internship (PPL) students at MAN 1 Yogyakarta. The event, held in the second-floor hall on Tuesday (September 30, 2025), marked the end of the internship period and served as a moment to reflect on the contributions and learnings made over the past few months.
The Deputy Head of Curriculum at MAN 1 Yogyakarta, Taufik Zamhari, M.Sc., represented the principal in welcoming the guests and participants. Curriculum staffs, mentor teachers, field supervisors (DPL), and UNY students who had undergone PPL at the madrasah joined this ceremony.
In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Roswita Lumban Tobing, M.Hum., as DPL, emphasized the importance of synergy between higher education institutions and secondary education units. “With this internship, we hope to foster closer collaboration between UNY and MAN 1 in education and research. Furthermore, this activity can also serve as a platform for students to develop their teaching skills and professionalism,” he said.

The main goal of the internship program is to improve students’ competency in education while making a positive contribution to MAN 1 Yogyakarta. During the internship, students not only hone their pedagogical skills but also learn to understand real-life classroom dynamics and build meaningful relationships with both students and teachers.
One college student, Habibi, expressed his deep impressions of the internship. “We learned many new things here from the real students, the friendliness and camaraderie of the teachers, and it was an extraordinary experience,” he said.
Meanwhile, the supervising teacher, Mr. Nirmala, delivered an inspiring message to the prospective educators. “The teaching profession is a noble one, so be teachers who sincerely educate the next generation of this nation,” he said, emphasizing the noble values inherent in education. (dee)
