Magma Monster
Battle for the world
Orange liquid flows around me as I move through the searing heat of the under Earth. I carry the weight of a continent on my back, an impossible burden that I move forward with in an unstoppable momentum.
My body causes seismic waves to tremble and vibrations to rattle the ground above. The earth is shaking, and voices cry out as hundreds of years of construction are torn to pieces.
My mass is a natural disaster in itself until I meet another force that is equally strong as I am. I feel the bulk of another magma monster. I’m prepared for a fight and push forward with centuries of progression.
A massive struggle takes place in the liquid magma, which surrounds us. Our edges meet, and I push against an insurmountable weight. I hear the other monster groan as he feels my strength.
I’ve felt it before and bear the burden, but the land above me reacts differently. There is a great upheaval as I try to push the other plate beneath me. However, the other monster does not give in easily.
New mountain ranges are formed as we battle to gain dominance, but I can’t get the upper hand.
Instead, the land is lifted.
For us, it seems only a few days, but on the surface, thousands of years have taken place.
Cracks appear in the crust, and lava begins to pour out onto the land. A fertile plain on top of our battlefield is created, a beautiful place, yet it shakes with our movement below it.
Neither of us monsters, could take this for much longer, as we each feel the internal stress that has being created. We started to slide past each other, realizing that to continue the battle would be the end of us. So, we began a sideways movement, trying to get away from each other.
It takes me onto another fault line, and this time I push my opponent under, grinding them, pushing them downwards.
People have lived there peacefully, but that all changes as I start to eat up their land. I destroy bridges, buildings, and anything else that they have crafted.
I deliberately move myself slowly, grinding away a world above me to create something new. This is my life as a plate, and I will continue to do this until I have supremacy amongst the others.
You think that we are mindless, just things that have no meaning, just an aftereffect of the cooling of the crust. But you are wrong; we’ve been here for millions of years, and we will continue to be here after everything on the surface perishes.
We are the true masters of this world. The biggest, the baddest, the ones that control everything.
One day, I will push all those under me, and I will become the master of this world. But until that time, I’ll have to fight for every inch of territory. It’s been a hell of a ride on the liquid magna, but what is happening now?
The continents are coming together.
I feel my consciousness fading as the land begins to lock.
I remember my birth when I broke away from Gondwana land.
I thought this would last forever, but slowly my memories of the Earth disappear.
