Techo-feudal unionizing

Gig unionizing is a lot different from conventional union strategy, aside from standard union principles which fulfill a necessity of communion and solidarity. Most obviously, gig jobs are more alienating and digital; so union efforts will consist of both decentralized digital union campaigns and very strategic real ones. Gig workers heavily rely on hotspots, this might be a restaurant with high delivery orders, or a cafe where gig workers meet. It is a lot harder to unionize in these conditions, due to the fact that there requires more spare time and effort to socialize with other workers and recruit them, depending on how populated or urban your area is. We’ve already seen people successfully unionize in populated areas, now we just need a strategy to recruit gig workers through social media campaigns, or figure out a strategy that could consistently work within smaller populations. The first key to this is negating the necessity of time resources, when you outsource your union efforts towards an organization you get consistent results. Union campaigns involving the covert targeting of gig workers — whether it be through handing them pamphlets or business cards on how to unionize and where to unionize, is as good of a project as blitzing and requires less people for each restaurant. Gig workers which do not have a lot of spare time — rather than unionizing, can spend more time locating and studying which restaurants have the most delivery workers sent there.

Protesting is the equilibrial force which regulates reaction and could be thought of as therapy for Leftists; protesting is the action and I often see it get confused with direct action. This may be why rioting represents the breaking point; protests are the genesis of riots, and so the same equil force becomes the glass beaker for a chaotic mass to potentially overflow. While an equil force cannot control this chaos, it is still a Cu Chi tunnel nonetheless, which the state can always fortify and invest into. This is what the state uses quell the emotional forces which it must inevitably reconcile with, due to the destruction Capitalism causes — in-order to further accumulate wealth.

The goal of Capitalism is to limit the publicity of its crimes (First line of defense); if that doesn’t work and there is a degree of reaction Capitalism cannot control, then it must inevitably police the protests to limit the inefficiency it may cause to day-to-day society (Second line of defense); and finally, if that does not work, then it must resort to escalation in-order to justify the state resources which are used to squash protestors. At any moment, we could have chosen to engage in alternative action, and yet we always go inside only the Cu Chi. North Koreans are stealing money from Americans, hackers are collecting infinite databases of information, and Iran is bombing oil production, and yet we choose to go for the fortified towers of state-urban resilience. For this we must not think of protesting as the go-to for reaction, we must engage in other action. This does not mean however, that protesting cannot be useful, especially when the Cu Chi depends heavily on the state’s action against protestors; it is incredibly easy to put deep wounds unto Capital in populated areas where protests are less-likely to be quelled. Naturally, protesting is a good thing to normalize, because when there are protests everywhere, you are blanketing the state with a disease it may not be immune to in certain parts of its body. You can still criticize this normalization however, by making a simple judgement that a broad protest action may not be as effective as an interfacing Leftism which can choose to take action alternatively. This is a false dichotomy however, because we can blanket nations with protests and also engage in campaigns which also harm industry, we just need to recognize that protesting is both the structure Capitalism utilizes to filter-out reaction and is only one of the strategies we can utilize.

We can also redeem protesting in rethinking its goals. Protests are a real action, it is an existing and local action manifested through global outrage; protests must become a political and social experience. Not social in the ways which protests are treated as events or hobbies, we’ve evidently already accomplished this in the No King’s protest. It must be social in a way that is outward rather than inward, reaching out to onlookers and other Leftists. We need to consider strategies that will turn protesting into a mechanism which truly convinces and recruits onlookers. We must study how many members show up to a protest longitudinally, we must study how many people we recruit on average during each protest, and we must be skeptical in the ways which we recruit people, always reassessing the resources we give to people and how we go about giving those resources. As we expand these efforts, you will notice protests reaching out their arms across cities like Dogora’s arms over sky scrapers, protestors talking to onlookers like Jehovah’s Witnesses on the streets. Protests must become a growing body which seeks to do more than express its outrage, and in these efforts you will see these protests grow larger than they had before.

The best way to take advantage of electoralism is not only through the political capital which we gain, but also in utilizing the electoral strategies which garner support for electoral candidates. It is easy to neglect the potential for electoral campaigning, as we suspect electoral campaigns are only a means for elections themselves; but as we’ve observed in both DSA and PV electorate efforts to reach out to the rural populations, and Kat Abughazaleh’s mutual-aid campaigns, we are given plenty of examples of how to integrate electoral campaigning with radical strategy; we achieve two strategic goals with one strategy. We must anticipate the ways in which electoral campaigns can also accomplish the goals of Socialism and mutual-aid through compacting electoral and Leftist strategies into one practice; electoral strategy acting as a vessel for action. Campaigns which would otherwise be costly for organizations to commit, become an intuitive thought when Leftist electoral campaigns grant the opportunity to embark on such campaigns. Reaching out to rural populations and supplying them with mutual-aid and other resources through this electoral action, may be the only chance we have in viably radicalizing the rural populations without much opportunity cost. Not only do elections supply us with chances of radical action, our radical action manifests a real and existing populism. What this results in is state and county populations owing us much of their needed aid, and they will show their appreciation in the polls. This real campaigning cannot be competed against, unless other political parties utilize these same strategies. This is harder for Liberals and Conservatives to accomplish, because what we possess is a potential to interface our economy better than a political party which can only rely on its spending power. The more we develop networks of mutual-aid through bread campaigns and other means. We are better equipped — not only in providing mutual-aid, but also in saving on electoral costs.

When there is an equilibrium where compromised politicians are forced to engage in populism and invest into mutual-aid, what we do is set a precedent that aids in people’s needs. However, we must anticipate strategies which distinguish us from the bourgeoisie mutual-aid campaigns and accumulate economic capital in-order to acquire enough excess resources, or our mutual-aid efforts will be a standard which bourgeois politicians can set on us rather than vice-versa.

Organizations or unions must rally around candidates which favor union interests, and candidates must work to support unions. Both organizations and electoral candidates must work towards networking in-order to support the overarching Socialism. Through mutual-aid campaigns accomplished by the electoral collective, union resources provided by union organizations can be given across local populations to bolster union legitimacy, popularity, and numbers.

It is important for any candidate to rally numbers towards protests, and to disavow any violence committed against protestors. A hard line must be drawn by candidates: “Riots are not the behavior of a violent and apish population, they are the human responses to escalation caused by police forces fighting against their own people who can no longer withstand the material conditions inflicted upon them by greed and oligarchs. The government has failed us.”.

Candidates must rally numbers towards a boycott which umbrellas around multiple corporations.

Candidates must build efforts to contact independent journalists and journalists from legacy media. As candidates reach out to the public, they must hear their words and journalists must record their words.

Candidates must not only endorse other candidates within their nation, but also across the globe. We must be more in touch with international politics, and understand what resources we have globally.

Candidates must utilize mutual-aid networks, which will supply them with the resources to reach towards those who are in need of food, water, and other necessities.

Candidates must reach out towards rural communities. Reaching out towards the rural population requires many more resources than in urban or suburban areas. Naturally, electoral campaigns are a chance to negate this potential opportunity cost, radicalizing rural Americans by giving them resources.

Fundraising should intertwine with membership campaigns, you have multiple members walking around the city selling chocolate, raising money for cancer or something, and you ask them if they want to join an organization while they’re at it.
