My strategy now is to pick one round at a time!

But back in the day, I entered pools. Probably paid a coupla dollars. My biggest triumph was once accurately predicting the final four before the tournament started. I was the only person in my class who did! This coup was announced by our professor from the front of the lecture hall. I was sooooo proud! I picked Virginia to be in the final four — even though their huge star, Ralph Samson, had completed his distinguished college career.

I didn’t know that much about the team — but I thought they’d play as hard as they could to make him proud!

By the way, I did not correctly pick the winner. But by then, I didn’t care! John Thompson, from Georgetown, was making NCAA and basketball history of his own!
