Why Are Mothers Angry at Their Daughters for Taking Their Advice
Woman, was it you who made it clear she should stay away?

It’s truly a humbling experience to see how mothers — African mothers to be specific are now angry at their children, girls especially, for being obedient their whole life.
I imagine their whole life, the beautiful women have always said to their daughters to stay away from boys. Before a girl even understood that she was a girl or the difference between a she and a he. It was decided that she would stay away from boys.’
And since Mama said so, it was.
Right away from kindergarten to primary school, Mother shamelessly told her daughter, " Stay away from boys, I'd better not see you holding hands with a boy, etc.”
The girl joined secondary school and then college/university, “don’t get pregnant. If you so dare, know that I brought you into this world. I can easily take you out.” This was said many times in different ways.
Today, the same woman wants grandchildren. Today, this same woman wants a son-in-law.
What do you mean? Woman, is it not you who made an agreement with your daughter to stay away from boys…to be scared of men?
What do you mean by where is your husband? I am going to die before I see my grandchildren, etc?
Did you just realize she has the ability to create and carry on your legacy?
No, ma’ma, girl child is scared of men because that’s what you told her. Your instructions were loud and clear with no bargaining, and she abided by all of them.
You made that contract since she was born. You can’t just wake up and decide to terminate it.
You asked her to stay away from boys; she did.
You asked her to be scared of men; she listened.
Maybe you might want to give birth again and make the instructions in your favour for the future.
This was just for fun, inspired by childhood stories around our office building during lunch break. And it has been written in defence of all girls who were told by their mothers to stay away from boys, and today, these same mothers want sons-in-law and grandchildren.
