Established in 1981, **The Wine Group **(TWG) is the world’s second-largest wine producer by volume. TWG is a privately-held, management-owned company with a portfolio of leading brands, including Cupcake, Franzia, flip-flop, and Almaden.

- Franzia Brothers Wines in Ripon, California
- Mogen David Wine Corporation in Chicago, Illinois
- Tribuno Wines, Inc. in New Jersey
1970s
Public company consolidation
- The Wine Group formed within Coca-Cola Bottling of New York, Inc.
1980s
Leveraged buy-out by Coke-NY TWG management team and outside investors
- August 27, 1981: Arthur Ciocca, Founder and Chairman, founded The Wine Group, Inc. in San Francisco, California
- Outside investors were bought-out by management team
- 1984: The Wine Group, became a privately-held, management-owned company
- 1988: TWG acquired wine brands including Corbett Canyon Winery
