Rest in Peace Phil Reagan

For me, Phil Reagan always looked indestructible.

Well, into his 70s, he was throwing batting practice on the field while serving in our minor league system as a coach and instructor. He even served as a major league pitching coach for a part of 2019. That’s why I couldn’t believe the news today that Phil had passed away at the age of 89 after a brief illness.

As a member of the Cubs he pitched against the Miracle Mets in 1969. Nicknamed “The Vulture” for the 96 wins his picked up during his 13-year major league career.

Talking baseball for Phil was a pleasure. It seemed like he was a big part of every big event in baseball for years. After the regular season was over, he would journey down to the Dominican to coach.
