Introduction

**General elections are underway all over [Ireland](https://theirishinsider.ie/polls-closing-soon-in-ireland-general-elections/) and, truly, it’s a very important time for the [political](https://theirishinsider.ie/polls-closing-soon-in-ireland-general-elections/)** future of the country. Polling began today, at 7am, and over 3.6 million registered voters were given the opportunity to choose the government’s responsible line for the course to be taken in the next five years.
