[6 Aug 23] Accepting Life’s Joys

Sometimes, we embrace certain things with joy, and miracles unfold in our lives. Life becomes simpler. Often, we resist many occurrences in life, leading to our sorrow.

Three months ago, I relocated to a city 7 kilometers away from my village. Although we have a farm and a large house in the village, my father chose not to join us. He prefers to stay there to oversee the house and farm, as he has already experienced poverty and endured a challenging life. He derives happiness and vitality from the simple things and doesn’t indulge in extravagance.

Being his son, I have always felt that he should experience life to the fullest and be with us in the city. As time goes by, I’m starting to understand him better. He is truly content. He takes pleasure in working on the farm and establishing his own identity through hard work.

Even now, he dedicates more than 8 hours a day to work, and it appears that this is his genuine source of enjoyment. He has embraced the identity of a hardworking individual who constantly strives for success in life.

During this phase, he wishes that I would visit the village once a week or a month, bringing joy and happiness to the farm house. He desires his granddaughter to play in the farm house. I resisted this idea for a long time, stating that I didn’t feel like returning to the village repeatedly. However, upon reflection, I realize that I’m now open to this idea and I should agree with him.

Therefore, I am making an effort to find happiness in visiting the farm house whenever possible. Life becomes more fulfilling when we stop overthinking and accept certain things within that time frame.
