There are moments in life when it feels like every door closes just as you’re about to walk through it. You send another application. You try another idea. You make another plan. And somehow, you find yourself right back where you started.
When life seems determined to knock you down, you have two choices.
You can play the victim and allow your circumstances to define you.
Or you can keep getting back up.
My personal motto has become:
Where there is a will, there is a way.
Sometimes, that’s all we have.
Faith.
Belief in ourselves. Belief in a higher power. Belief that even when we can’t see the path ahead, one is still unfolding.
That belief has carried me through some incredibly difficult seasons over the past five years.
Most people probably wouldn’t know it.
I smile. I encourage others. I continue editing, writing, coaching, and showing up every day.
That doesn’t mean I never struggle.
Some days I cry. Sometimes I even surprise myself with where the emotion comes from. Rather than fight it, I’ve learned to let it pass through me. Feeling our emotions isn’t the same as living in them. There is a difference between processing pain and building a home inside it. And crying doesn’t always mean I am sad. I have learned it can signal overwhelm, frustration, and other emotions.
For the most part, I genuinely love my life. I wake up with purpose. I get to write about subjects I care deeply about and help others navigate their own challenges.
The one area that still feels out of balance is my financial life.
Years ago, I made the difficult decision to leave a marriage where I had financial security but not the emotional fulfillment I longed for. Today, I have something far more valuable — peace. Yet I’ll admit there are moments when peace and uncertainty make uncomfortable companions.
Meaningful work doesn’t always pay the bills.
I work seven days a week editing, writing, and coaching whenever I can. I continue applying for remote positions that seem like a perfect fit, only to receive another polite rejection.
Of course, rejection stings.
But it doesn’t get the final word.
The good news is that at the end of this month, I’m taking my first vacation in more than four years. My mom is treating my daughter and me to an Alaskan cruise aboard the Silver Moon. When I started reading about the itinerary and the beautiful restaurants onboard, I realized something.
I didn’t just want this vacation.
I truly needed it.
Sometimes we become so focused on surviving that we forget what it feels like to simply breathe.
Maybe this trip will be a reminder that life isn’t only about solving problems. It’s also about creating memories, laughing with the people we love, and allowing ourselves to receive unexpected gifts with gratitude.
I don’t know exactly how this chapter of my life ends. Does anyone?
Maybe the right coaching client is just around the corner. Maybe the right job simply hasn’t found me yet. Maybe this vacation will provide the fresh perspective I’ve been needing.
What I do know is this:
Every difficult season I’ve lived through has eventually given way to something better.
So tomorrow I’ll wake up, send another application, write another article, encourage someone else, and keep believing.
Because faith isn’t believing life will always be easy.
Faith is believing there is still a path forward — even when you can’t see it yet.
And as long as I have the will to keep moving forward, I’ll continue believing there is a way.
Thanks so much for reading. You mean a lot.
Peace & Light,
Libby
I would like to share an incredibly gripping story by ZaraTaylor. It is truly incredible.
