Every Enterprise Has a Secret Spreadsheet Problem. We Found Two Ways to Fix It
Over the last couple of quarters, working with enterprise teams across finance, HR, and ops teams, we realized one common thing — spreadsheets are quietly running departments and inter-departmental coordination, despite enterprise applications and SaaS platforms being live and running.
Not many talk about it, but it’s true almost everywhere — data gets downloaded to spreadsheets and runs through human effort and macros. Everyone does it their own way, and no one is really happy about it.

When we conceived designing happy solutions for our enterprise customers, two patterns kept showing up as the foundation for almost every agentic workflow we built to rescue these processes from spreadsheets.
Classification Pattern (Classify — Tag — Group — Sort — Route)
Invoices, expense reports, tickets — someone on the team manually decides where each one belongs. Billable or not. Which department. What priority. We designed agents that read the item and classify it the way a trained employee would, just faster and more consistently.
Matching Pattern (Rule-Based Match — Semantic Match — Fuzzy Match — Match by Judgement).
This one took more work to get right. An invoice in AP should match a PO in procurement, except the vendor name is spelled slightly differently and nobody catches it. A timesheet entry gets miscoded as internal when it should be billed. A customer inquiry lands in the wrong department. We built matching agents that move beyond rigid rule-based matching into semantic and fuzzy matching, applying judgement the way a sharp employee would, without the fatigue. Invoice-to-PO matching hit 98% accuracy in the first week.
What actually changed for these teams
- Finance teams reclaimed days every month previously spent on manual categorization and reconciliation
- Support teams responded 37% faster because routing happened automatically, not manual triage queues
- Fewer mistakes, because the work no longer got rushed at 5pm on a Friday when attention fades
- Most importantly — employees stopped doing repetitive sorting and matching. They moved into actual problem-solving and decision-making. People are happier doing work that matters
These two patterns now show up in nearly every enterprise agentic solution we design — the starting point before anything more complex gets layered on.
What’s the one spreadsheet-and-macros workflow still running your team that no one talks about?
