One Afternoon at BUET
Sitting on a chair in the balcony of our room 501. It is very noisy. The noise is painful and hurts my ears. This same noise causes disturbance in my sleep. But still, I will continue Mr. Paper. Listen to my agonies.
I am a very sentimental person. I have emotions, and sometimes I think that they overpower me, and that’s the moment when I shed tears. I ended the most elegant book I’ve ever read in English, the famous ‘David Copperfield’ by C.D., published in 1850 in London. This novel had been my journey for many days. I first started it 6 or 7 months ago. The paperback is very heavy, so I didn’t feel it comfortable.
In that book, dear Mr. Paper, I used to fly away to a distant land in a different century. I used to travel in London, the great capital of the British Empire! I saw their people, images, their love, crime, agonies, struggles. It was a different time. The 19th century was a different time when people did not have TVs, phones, computers, or electricity. There were only horses and carriages to travel. They never imagined any cars or motor vehicles. The noise of rickshaws, cars, bikes all this reminds me of the 21st century.
Sometimes I think what it would look like if I were born in a different century. Perhaps a warrior or a farmer in a village. Even in those dreams, I do not dream about being born as a royal. I am a common man. I have my sorrows, but they make me stronger, not weak.
