Wellness Isn’t Found — It’s Remembered
How my journey through grief, debt, silence, and surrender brought me back to what wellness truly means.
Part 1: When the Body Wasn’t the Problem — My Peace Was
There was a time when I thought wellness meant strength. Energy. Productivity. Balance. Achievement.
But life had other lessons in store for me. My world didn’t collapse in a dramatic moment — it cracked quietly… over time.
· Work disappeared
· Clients vanished without paying
· I was stripped of access to everything
· And most painfully, I lost my father
· I fell into emotional and financial debt at the same time
The outside world kept moving. But inside me… everything stopped.
I wasn’t unwell in my body — I was unwell in my soul.
There were mornings when I didn’t want to get out of bed. Nights when I couldn’t sleep. And entire days that felt like I was floating in fog — Not sick, but certainly not alive.
I tried to fix it with logic. Tried to distract myself with ideas, plans, and hope.
But no remedy worked — Because the problem wasn’t outside me. It was the peace that had left me.
Part 2: The Turning Point — Not Yoga Mats, But Mantras
I didn’t heal by joining a gym. I didn’t sign up for wellness retreats, therapy apps, or diet plans.
Instead… I did something much quieter.
I stepped into the park.
In the early morning silence — Before the city could shout its noise into me — I began to walk.
Slowly. Softly. Almost unknowingly. And with each step… I began to return to myself.
The chirping of birds felt like whispers from nature, saying,
“You’re still here. You’re still alive.”
The squirrels rushing through the trees became symbols of movement. — even when life felt stuck.
The sunlight filtering through the leaves felt like warmth returning. — not just to my body, but to my spirit.
And then, something deeper began.
I Didn’t Meditate. I Remembered.
Someone once told me to chant. At the time, I brushed it off.
But one evening, tired, broken, and desperate — I sat alone and whispered a name:
“Shri Ram… Shri Ram… Shri Ram…”
And the world… fell silent.
Not the noise outside — But the unbearable noise inside me.
I wasn’t escaping the world. I was returning to my soul’s natural rhythm — One that had always pulsed with bhakti.
From that day, I created my wellness ritual:
- A morning walk with nature
- Soft mantra chanting
- Reading a few lines from the Shri Ramcharitmanas
- Attending my Wednesday evening Geeta class
And slowly… I wasn’t just walking through the park. I was walking back into wholeness.
Part 3: Redefining Wellness — It Wasn’t Productivity. It Was Presence.
For a long time, I measured wellness the way the world taught me:
- Are you energetic today?
- Did you tick your tasks off?
- Are you making progress?
- Are you “getting back on track”?
But as I sat with my grief… As I listened to birds instead of emails… As I opened the Shri Ramcharitmanas instead of a to-do list… A quiet truth emerged:
I didn’t need to be “back on track.” I needed to stop chasing a track that was never mine.
Wellness wasn’t doing more. I was feeling less afraid.
It wasn’t about fixing my routines. Furthermore, it was about realigning with my soul’s rhythm.
And the more I returned to simple, spiritual practices… The more I stopped seeking dramatic healing.
I realized:
- I didn’t need to feel happy all the time.
- I just needed to feel connected.
- To something greater than me.
- To something still and true within me.
That something… was bhakti. That something… was Shri Ram.
Part 4: My Daily Wellness Ritual Now
Today, I no longer chase wellness. I walk with it.
It doesn’t come from products, treatments, or trends. It comes from presence. Simplicity. Surrender.
Here’s what wellness looks like in my life now:
1. Morning Walk in the Park
I rise early and step into nature, not to exercise my body, But to listen to the silence between trees. The breeze, the birds, the golden sky — they remind me that life still breathes with me.
2. Gentle Mantra Chanting
Sometimes it’s a whisper. Sometimes it’s just in my mind. But every repetition of “Shri Ram… Shri Ram…” brings me back to peace. It doesn’t erase my pain, but it holds it in grace.
3. Reading Shri Ramcharitmanas
Each evening or night, I read a few lines. I don’t analyze. I just absorb. As if Goswami Tulsidas Ji is writing to my soul, line by line.
4. Geeta Class (Every Wednesday)
One hour. Once a week. But it’s my sanctuary — a place where my mind is guided by dharma, not by doubt.
5. Writing From My Soul
Sometimes a blog. Sometimes just a line or two. But when I write, I feel like wellness flows through me, not to me. Because healing shared… is healing multiplied.
Closing Reflection: I Didn’t Find Wellness. I Remembered It.
For years, I looked for peace through results. Now, I’ve stopped looking.
Because wellness isn’t the absence of pain.
It is the presence of purpose.
And in bhakti, I’ve found both.
I may still have ups and downs. But I now walk with a sacred rhythm:
- One that forgives the past
- Trusts the present
- And bows to Shri Ram with every breath
I didn’t fix my life. I surrendered it. And in that surrender… Wellness returned home.
