26- Working from a coworking space in Vietnam

My experience working from a coworking space in Vietnam while adjusting to late-night schedules, digital nomad life, and quiet nights in Hoi An.

My experience with this coworking place

We have been working from this coworking place for about two weeks now, and I think it is the perfect kind of place to work while travelling.

There are so many digital nomads here, and it somehow helps me focus more. You know, when I am by myself at the hotel, it can get hard to concentrate sometimes. But when everyone around me is focused on their own work, somehow it becomes mentally easier for me to focus too!

Working until morning

That especially works with our weird time-difference schedule. The time difference between PT and Vietnam time has pushed us into working until 2 or 3 AM almost every night.

It is mostly Gab who has to work these irregular hours, but I don’t want to leave my man alone while he is going through the pain of working until early morning. I want to stay with him, even if I am half asleep beside him. At least my body is still there with him, hehe.

He keeps telling me that I should go back to the hotel because my presence does not change much, but I know he only says that because he wants me to rest. I have caught him multiple times looking at me during meetings and smiling. I could see it in his eyes that he was genuinely happy that I stayed with him, no matter what 😇

Biking back alone late at night… PANIC

Last night though, the lack of sleep really started catching up with me. I did not realize it consciously because strong Vietnamese coffee can easily suppress the exhaustion your body is trying to communicate. I only noticed it after I recorded myself and started editing my footage. Oh my… the dark circles under my half-open eyes were intense. I realized those were my body’s red flags.

Around 11 PM, I told Gab that I really needed to sleep that night. I grabbed the hotel key and headed back alone to the hotel room.

But honestly, biking alone through the streets of Vietnam at 11 PM felt pretty scary. There was barely anyone around, and my mind started imagining worst-case scenarios. At one point, I saw a couple of motorbikes coming from the opposite direction, and all I could do was HOPE they would keep going 😬

Long story short, the ride from the coworking space to the hotel only took about three and a half minutes, and thankfully nothing happened. But honestly… I am not looking forward to another episode of late-night panic, hehe.

Here, I have made a short about it.
