The Iron-Legged Warrior Queen
A snippet that echoes deeply
Rigveda is known to be the oldest Vedic scripture in the world. Origins of Rigveda cannot be traced back to any specific period, making it a truly primordial text available to humanity. An ancient text like the Rigveda mentions about a warrior queen named Vishapala.

Vishapala took part in a battle which led to her losing her leg. The Rigvedic verse alludes that the Ashwinikumaras designed a prosthetic iron leg and healed her.[1] This fact not only indicates that women played a major in role in wars and governing a kingdom but also exhibits the advanced medical science during that period. The verse in the Rigveda that described the story of Vishapala, is the oldest mention of a successful prosthetic procedure. Unfortunately, there is not much information available about Vishapala’s story, but it does give us enough data to reinforce our rich heritage that moulded brave women.
