Productivity expert Laura Vanderkam released her new book Big Time in May this year. Already a bestseller, it’s an amazing guide to making time work for us.

Give we have already entered the second half of the year, and like me, you feel that time is simply racing by, this book and its contents are highly relevant!

Review

My chief reasons to read this book-

  • It’s entertaining and written in Laura V’s engaging style.
  • Some of the concepts like TOAD system and effortful before effortless will blow your mind.
  • The book builds on the premise of gaining time abundance, themes explored in her previous book but is very much a standalone book. Though I do highly recommend her other books too.
  • Examples are inspiring and their problems are relatable. Thus, making the solutions seem doable!

Takeaways

These are some of the lines I loved in the book. They are profound and in my humble opinion, carry a wealth of meaning and experience

  1. While life is finite, the daily experience of life is actually quite spacious.
  2. You can dream big but plan small.
  3. When we get the sense that time is finite, it starts to put the focus on what is important.
  4. if you want to spend your time better, then you need to know where the time is going now
  5. People overestimate what they can do in the short run. They underestimate what they can do in the long run.
  6. When you race ahead, unless you can actually see the finish line, the pace stops being sustainable.
  7. Better to keep going with just a little more than nothing, knowing that the difference between nothing and a little more than nothing is cumulatively great.

Have your read the book? What is your review? Any lesson or lines that deeply resonated with you? Share in the responses, would love to hear more perspectives.

P.S. I wrote about author Laura Vanderkam in my book The Unstoppable Chapter. A preview of the same:
