“On Your Own,” the central rotating motif was featuring a self-portrait that was serving as a powerful representation of my personal journey and the cyclical nature of life. The self-portrait was visually depicting my evolution and growth over time, encapsulating the transformative experiences you were encountering along my path.

In 2014 “On your own” (people category) Motion photography was shortlisted by the Saatchi Gallery and Google+ for The Motion Photography Prize and exhibited Saatchi Gallery London.

Motion photographs judged by a panel of forward-thinkers comprised of film director Baz Luhrmann, artists Shezad Dawood, Tracey Emin and Cindy Sherman and Saatchi Gallery CEO Nigel Hurst.

The competition received 4,000 entries from 52 countries across the six categories — landscape, lifestyle, action, night, people and urban.

This thought-provoking conceptual work delves into the multifaceted nature of human existence, simultaneously exploring the tangible reality of the physical body and the intangible depths of the soul, which remains ensnared in illusion. It contemplates the notion that life emerges from a void and ultimately returns to the same state. Through powerful visual imagery, the artwork reveals the inherent conflict between the grotesque and spiritual dimensions of humanity. By dissecting and exposing the raw reality of the human form, it challenges conventional standards of beauty and confronts the inherent ugliness that lies beneath the surface. This exploration serves as a catalyst for contemplation on the complex duality of existence. In addition, this work of art raises critical questions inspired by Marina Abramovic’s “Art Must Be Beautiful” It challenges the traditional expectations of beauty and disrupts the notion that art and artists must conform to societal ideals. In this silent movie, the absence of sound is a purposeful artistic choice. The surrounding environment and its ambient sounds serve as the bg music, immersing viewers in a sensory experience that complements the visual narrative. By relying on the sounds of the surroundings, the artist aims to create a unique and immersive cinematic journey that engages the audience on a deeper level, allowing them to connect with the artwork’s emotional impact and atmospheric nuances. The Mindscape by R. Gopakumar

Through this captivating series of works, the artist embarks on a profound exploration of the human condition, delving beyond surface-level expressions to uncover the rich tapestry of the inner soul. These artworks seek to capture not only the outward manifestations but also the deepest thoughts, emotions, and ambiance that resonate with a wide spectrum of individuals. In this silent movie, the absence of traditional sound is intentional. Instead, the artist invites viewers to immerse themselves in the surrounding environment, allowing the ambient sounds to serve as the background music, enhancing the overall sensory experience of the movie.
