British Broker Sues Billionaire for Yacht Commission – Here’s the Whole Drama 🎭

So, a London brokerage firm called Cecil Wright & Partners filed a lawsuit for €17.5 million against Nikolai Storonsky, the founder of Revolut. The conflict is pretty straightforward: the brokers say they found a yacht for him, but he allegedly decided to bypass them and buy it directly to avoid paying commission.
We’re talking about an awesome 102-meter yacht called Nixie, which German shipyard Lürssen built in 2025. The yacht is seriously fire – it’s got an infinity pool, a gym with a cryotherapy chamber, basically pure luxury. The vessel used to belong to Canadian businessman and former hockey player Patrick Dovigi. Price tag? Around €350 million. That’s no small change.

But here’s the twist: Storonsky closed the deal with the seller himself, bypassing the brokers. Cecil Wright & Partners is saying: “Wait a minute, we introduced you two! We’re the ‘effective cause’ of this deal, so we deserve a five percent commission, even if we’re not signed in the final contract.”
We’re the ‘effective cause’ of this deal, so we deserve a five percent commission, even if we’re not signed in the final contract.”
Storonsky and his team think the lawsuit is total BS and are getting ready to fight it in court.
No joke – this is the kind of story that shows yacht industry brokers don’t mess around when it comes to commissions.
