The pickpocket had fished the wallet out of the man’s back pocket, but then dropped it when he was nudged from behind.
He improvised. “Excuse me, but you dropped your wallet.”
The mark turned round to thank him.
The pickpocket bent down to retrieve the man’s wallet…
…and never noticed his own wallet being picked.
