I will get into Harvard University.

It seems I am just as afraid of literal closure as I am of mathematical closure

Closure- the act of bringing something to an end, a sense of finality after a difficult experience which “allows a person to move forward”. But what if you do not want closure? I mean who wants to think about the ending of something, especially something you have nurtured for so long, rather live with than without, right?

The irony of humans is we all crave closure but when it’s the time only few of us can let go of our trauma, our resentment and our hyperfixation. It’s kind of like when Katniss wins the 74th Hunger Games, and with her newfound riches and vast supply of food, she no longer needs to hunt and trade and is unable to fathom what to do with all her time now. If people were to seek closure — truly seek it, that is — they would surely be confused(initially) of how to proceed with a new sense of life. The undeniable truth of life is change is scary and people hesitate when approached with the oppurtunity to let change take over their lives — I guess we all just like to be in control of our situations, however human control is but a mere illusion.

However, what I refuse to accept in mathematical closure: the idea that if you start in a set, you never leave it — even after applying any binary operation. I dream to, plan to and work to break out of the set I was born in. And if along the way, I can inspire someone else — any girl, any woman, any stuck soul — to break free…well that would be a dream come true, because we are all more than the sum of problems and circumstances that we make us up.
