Sorry I Forgot Your Birthday

The ringtone isn’t met with glee, Forgotten how the raindrops feel, This ideally wouldn’t be me, Too consumed by life to even heal

A calm mind is a distant dream, And miles apart is love from my heart, Like a king bereft of crown, it would seem, Or a canvas devoid of any strokes of art

Within my blinks, the seasons change, And breaths of sigh affirm the mundane days, Keeping track now seems strange, Of the one who leaves and the one who stays

Sorry, I forgot your birthday, I’ve forgotten how to live as well, I didn’t choose you, you can say, I’ve forgotten how far behind I fell

Perhaps, home is where I should head, After all the roads have failed me, Reject the rules, choose myself instead, And see what life could be

Maybe, the hands shall grab life by the throat, Avoid drowning, learn to swim, and persistently float
