THE SPIRITUAL SCIENCE OF THE NEW CREATURE

A Metamorphic Experience by Iruoghene Ekevwe.

I am completely wowed ……

Man, the Offspring of the Godhead…..

It all started in Genesis when God said,

‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…’” (Genesis 1:26). God created man in His image and likeness, giving man the capacity to reflect His nature and represent Him on the earth. Man was created to fellowship with God.

The Fall of Man

Then Something Happened…Man fell. Sin interrupted a divine relationship.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

When man fell through disobedience, humanity lost its original glory and became subject to sin and death. Yet God’s love for His creation never changed. Like a mother who cannot abandon her child, God devised a a plan to save man. Motherhood started from God. Who else???

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8.

The Word Became Flesh

How did God create man? He spoke. This creature came into existence through His Word.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

If man came through the Word, then it had to be the Word that would bring man back to his original state. But God couldn’t simply speak another sentence and ignore justice. The kingdom runs on principles. Sin carries consequences.

“Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9:22). The blood of animals could only postpone judgment.

“For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.” (Hebrews 10:4)

Redemption required someone from mankind’s own class. Who is qualified to stand where Adam stood. But is there any? So something extraordinary happened.

The Word that created man stepped into his creation.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1:14)

In the Godhead, Jesus is the eternal Word made human. The Creator entered His own creation to rescue it.

The Price of Redemption

Jesus shed His blood once and for all. “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”Ephesians 1:7

Through His resurrection, He conquered death and returned to the Father. The way back to God had been opened.

The Gift of the Holy Spirit

Although redeemed to the God class, we still live on earth. How do we access God…..

Jesus promised us a spiritual access to help us perform our original duty: FELLOWSHIP .

“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper… the Spirit of truth.”

John 14:16 – 17

The Holy Spirit can now live within us, guiding, teaching, strengthening, and revealing the realities of God’s Kingdom.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” Romans 8:14

The Creator specialised in creation created a new creature…….(sometimes I wish I can write in tongues….)

This new life begins when a person believes in Jesus Christ and confesses Him as Lord.

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Romans 10:9 – 10

The Holy Spirit then comes to dwell within the believer.

“Having believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.”

Ephesians 1:13

Paul describes this transformation with a special name when he said:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature/creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Being a “new creature” is beyond just changing your ways or being forgiven or starting afresh! Well you are but it is more of a spiritual transformation, a restored identity, mutation into a new nature, an access into glory and a call back to fellowship with God. We can now participates in the God life through Christ.

“Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27

Peter expresses it this way:

”…that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature…” 2 Peter 1:4

We are brought into fellowship with God as it was in the beginning. You can’t fellowship in a realm you don’t belong in. Intimacy is only fulfilled among like beings.

Living in the Consciousness of Christ

You can only operate in this new life, when you live consciously in what Christ has accomplished. You have to be conscious of it. This means what you say, think, do should show that you know what Christ has done for you. It is only then the invisible begins to appear visible.

Metamorphosis from a spiritual angle with my lens….

Scientists study the process of metamorphosis on organisms; I study God and the sons of God.

I am fascinated by spiritual metamorphosis. How humans are changed into their original state, the image of God. I’m completely wowed by a supernatural experience!!
