North Fox Island in Lake of Michigan

Landing on an island with a grass runway. I was the computer guy at a private airline. They flew commuters & tourists to and from the mainland to a series of islands in Lake Michigan.

One day a pilot and I decided to have some fun and go hiking on an uninhabited remote island. Airport staff mowed the runway once a month, just to keep it landable and a place to go camping and hiking.

I took some pictures out the open window… very windy, you’re really gotta hold on to your camera! And I got some nice shots inside the cockpit, to remember these fun times.

I’ve got a bunch of photos, but most are on a hard drive that’s inaccessible to me right now. I’ll share them later. These are pictures of hardcopies that I printed and have in an album. Just a few of the Island, the Cessna, and me hiking.

Checkout the shot right off the coastline. We’re flying only about 15 or 20 feet above the water! Fun times!
