I Solved the Problem. Then I Was Moved Aside

When I started reporting to a CxO, it was not symbolic.

There was a real organizational problem. Ambiguous. Unowned. Risky.

I was brought in because I could handle it.

For a period, judgment mattered. Access mattered. Decisions carried weight.

I delivered.

The problem stabilized. The organization moved on.

What didn’t happen was a conversation.

No discussion about trajectory. No signal of continuity.

I was moved into a narrower role. Others were let go. I stayed.

That’s when I learned:

Trust is not sponsorship.

You can be trusted to fix what’s broken without being chosen to shape what comes next.
