What Lies Ahead: A tarot reading for the coming week

Welcome friends. Please excuse me for not having written in a week or so. I’ve quit my 9–5 job and moved into being self-employed for the first time in more than 25 years. At the moment, I’m trying to figure out how writing and tarot will fit into my new schedule. You might only find me doing weekly readings for a little bit. But I will continue to write and continue to provide messages through the tarot.

I also just wanted to add a huge thank you for all your support and encouragement. It truly means the world to me. With that… here we go with a reading looking at the coming week.

In today’s reading, I’ll use a spread called “What Lies Ahead.” The first card from the reading indicates the factors that will be helpful this week.

The Star shows up as the card representing the factor or energy that will be helpful to us this week. This card represents our connection to cosmic forces. It shows us that we are connected and can send and receive from the cosmos. Because there is another card for our sun, the star here most likely references a distant star. One outside of our galaxy yet still close enough to provide a connection to us here on Earth.

The message here is not so much about the star but about our ability to connect to its energy and utilize it for our purposes. This card’s message is that the cosmos is ready and willing to help us in our week. That we can look towards the universe for assistance this week. The energy of the collective can help us get through whatever we need.

Our next card is the Eight of Wands, representing factors that will stand in our way this week.

The Eight of Wands in this deck resembles an image of almost any time anyone goes into hyperspace or warp speed in space movies. All of the wands coverage at a central point in front of our perspective. The Eight of Wands is a card about movement and speed.

The message of this card is that speed and movement may get in our way this week. Whether that means that we’ll need to move quickly to keep up or that we’ll have to slow down to let the universe catch up to us remains to be seen. But the message is that speed and movement will be factors that create challenges for us in the week ahead. Focus on how that relates to your life. How does speed and movement affect you? Do you feel like you’ll have to play catch-up next week? Or do you need to slow down to allow others to catch up to you? There are no wrong answers here. Just something for you to consider as you go about your week.

The last card I our reading today is the Ace of Wands which in today’s spread represents what we do to achieve our desired result this week.

The Ace of Wands represents new ideas, creative endeavors, and passions. I like to look at the aces in tarot like seeds. They have the potential to be something, but they need time, nurturing, and patience to become what they will ultimately become. The suit of Wands is about creativity, passion, and energy. And because we see the flames in this image at the pace of the woman’s third eye chakra. It stands to reason that the potential here is for creative ideas. Things are seen in the mind’s eye. To create something, you must first visualize it. See it in your mind’s eye, and then you can create it as real and tangible.

So what can we do to achieve what we hope to accomplish this week? Pre-visualize that which you want to accomplish in your mind’s eye first. See it from all the angles you can and ensure it’s perfect before committing to making it real.
