Education has the power to transform lives, but millions of students in India still struggle to access quality learning because of financial hardships and social inequality. This is where Pehchaan The Street School is making a meaningful difference. Founded with the vision of ensuring that no student is deprived of education due to their circumstances, the organization provides free education, mentorship, life skills, and emotional support to underprivileged students across multiple learning centres.

All children have a dream and all dreams need to be heard. At Pehchaan The Street School each child has a story and each story is a story of hope, determination and building a better future. One such example is Radhika’s story. As soon as you spot her, her radiant smile and mischievous t-shirt get noticed. She looks happy, confident and enthusiastic. The question of what she wants to do in the future when asked is not hesitated for a second. She happily states, “I want to be a Police Officer.”

Curious to know what inspired her dream, she is asked why she wants to become a police officer. She’s honest, sincere and has a simple answer. She wants to serve others and protect people,” she says. Radhika’s dream, encapsulated in a few words, conveys feelings of kindness, responsibility, and a willingness to contribute in positive ways to society. Her answer teaches us that age has nothing to do with dreams, it’s about how much passion is behind them.

But it is through dedication and learning that Radhika knows she will be able to realize her dream. She shares that she studies well in her daily classes as she wants to go for further education and someday move to a formal school. She puts a smile on her face and promises to work for that, playfully. She believes that education plays an important part in helping her to realize what she hopes to be in the future.

Her story is a lovely illustration of the value of community-based learning. Children have dreams and ambitions, and with opportunities to learn they can pursue their dreams and aspirations further. Education is a way in which they can go forward and learn something new and get ready for their future life that they have envisioned.
