Not gold, or diamonds, Not power, or property, Not ten million likes, for one of my posts; Friend, will you give me some time?

Wars will be waged, Peace might reign, Climate and weather can’t be relied upon; Friend, will you give me some time?

AI and Muskiness, Sugarburg and ‘social’ media, Take day and night, hostage; Friend, will you give me some time?

Shall we meet, then, one day Keeping our phones away, Check the sky, not google, for weather; Friend, will you give me some time?

Shall we break bread together, Discuss family and absent friends, Shall we sit in comfortable silences; Friend, will you give me some time?

Shall we remember times gone by, and say, ‘do you remember…’, Shall we share our hopes for the future; Friend, will you give me some time?

Shall we look at each other, as we sit across the table, Rather than read an electronic message; Friend, will you give me some time?

Shall we part with a hug, And a promise to meet, this friend who gave the greatest gift of all… Friend, will you give me some time?
