AUBSS Honors Mr. Ali Qadar with the Doctor of Public Service (Honoris Causa)

The American University of Business and Social Sciences (AUBSS) is pleased to announce that Mr. Ali Qadar has been awarded the Doctor of Public Service (Honoris Causa), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to public life, community cohesion, and social welfare.

Mr. Qadar brings a distinguished record of service that spans both professional achievement and sustained voluntary commitment. He holds a BA in Economics and Political Science, and pursued postgraduate studies in economics at Punjab University. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1981. Over the years, he has built a notable career in the accounting profession, including positions with Pinner, Darlington & Co. and Hancock & Ashford, before founding Ali Qadar & Co., Chartered Accountants.

Beyond his professional career, Mr. Qadar has demonstrated long-term dedication to civic and charitable work. He served as a Sheffield city councillor from 1996 to 2012, and has taken up leadership roles within a variety of community and voluntary organisations. These include significant responsibilities with the Sheffield Racial Equality Council (member, vice chair, and chair), Common Ground (co-chair), and trustee roles with Sharrow Citizens Advice Bureau and the Sheffield Mental Health and Advocacy Citizens Advice Bureau. Through these efforts, he has consistently advanced community wellbeing, equity, and access to support services.

Mr. Qadar has also contributed to education and international development. He has served as a school governor, supporting local educational governance and student outcomes. Additionally, he has supported international development through a UK-registered charity that delivers sanitation and basic services in South Asia, reflecting a commitment to human dignity, public health, and practical social impact.

AUBSS recognises Mr. Qadar’s significant achievements and enduring influence in public service — both in Sheffield and internationally. His record exemplifies the values AUBSS seeks to uphold: civic responsibility, service to others, and ethical leadership in communities.

His British Empire Medal (BEM) in 2025 for services to the Sheffield community, along with other civic honours, further reflects the sustained nature of his contributions and the trust placed in his leadership.
