Echoes of the Fallen DLC Review!
Boy, did I work for it!

Final Fantasy 16 is a game that hasn’t stopped impressing since the day it crash landed and let me tell you, I about fell out of my chair when I heard about the DLCs for it. I played through Echoes of the Fallen and let me tell you, it is one of those that you can’t stop once you’ve started.
Today, I’m here to deliver my review of the game and let you know that this DLC is definitely something you want to play. But more on that later. I got a chance to play through Echoes of the Fallen, and there were some good and some bad.
With that said, let’s get started.
- DLC Story 10/10,
Okay, the DLC story starts out a little convoluted at first when the ‘Fallen’ is mentioned. As I read through the story, I began to understand exactly what was going on and how it shaped the very fabric of the existence of the ‘players’.
I about fell out of my seat when I heard the name ‘Omega Weapon’, a name I haven’t heard since Final Fantasy 8; I’m still planning on getting a piece of that ass too. The story wasn’t too hard to follow, and it really got you into the story of the DLC. Overall, I liked it, and it made me feel like I had to care about stopping Omega Weapon at any cost.
2. Bosses 9/10, The bosses were among the strongest I faced in any DLC, and let me tell you, they will make you work for it. The bosses weren’t too difficult, but many of them went into what I called ‘manic’ mode, in which they tried to change up their attacks after losing so many HP. I know this is a common mechanic in the game, but with the DLC bosses, it seemed a little different.
I will say that I did enjoy the fight with Omega, I mean that thing was a real beast but it made me happy to know that ending Omega Weapon was very satisfying but it was indeed a tough boss fight. I don’t think I fought that hard to kill any boss since the marks in the main game.
The only thing I didn’t like was that you couldn’t go Ifrit when you fought Omega Weapon. That would’ve been awesome. Two titans clash, destroying the area around them, and Clive comes out on top as he’s known to do. I think going Ifrit for the battle would’ve been awesome. But, regular Clive with his Eikon powers was still a good balance in the gameplay department.
3. Difficulty 9/10, The difficulty of the DLC wasn’t really that off-putting. If anything, it seemed like, at times, it was a little harder, and then the difficulty would drop again. But I’d be lying if I said that there weren’t subtle spikes in the difficulty at different points. Let it be known that I didn’t mind the difficulty at all, even though sometimes it seemed like it was hard.
The enemies definitely seemed a little tougher to take down, but it was enough for me to get through that with some well-timed Precision Dodge maneuvers. And let me tell you, you’ll need to pull out all of the stops when it comes to the enemies because some of them are quicker than the eye can see, whereas others were just plain annoying.
4. Verdict, Overall, the Echoes of the Fallen DLC was awesome, and the gameplay aspect was great. I didn’t too much care for the fact that Clive couldn’t go Ifrit for the battle with Omega Weapon, but that’s of little consequence. I had fun, and if you haven’t played this DLC yet, get on it. In my opinion, it’s really good.
Omega Weapon will definitely make you work for it, and what I found that works is Bahamut’s and Odin’s, along with Rebirth Flame and Heatwave. I brought Omega Weapon down in the nick of time using the aforementioned.
I give it a 9.6/10
My advice is to play through this DLC. Will it challenge you? Yes. But I assure you it is worth every bit of money you pay. Trust me on that.
