Quite recently Kurt Vile* and John Prine collaborated just before Prine passed (eat shit, Covid). It was a lovely final chapter in Prine’s career.

“Broken Hearts And Dirty Windows” goes a little further back and is a compilation of covers produced by Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) released in 2010… which seems to be a complete blindspot of a year for me. I can’t recall this album or anything else from that year. I only found the song and album thanks to Alexa and Spotify running deep on a My Morning Jacket playlist. Maybe I’ll restore my Facebook account and see what my posts from that year looked like? I don’t know. Around that time the South saw a few Arctic Plunges that made winter and even spring particularly brutal. Maybe I blocked that out?

Take care this holiday season. Do what makes you happy. Ignore all the noise, ignore the mad mad world. Shut it down and the chill the eff out. Most of it should still be around in 2022.
