Priced at just 15 cents per million input tokens and 60 cents per million output tokens, GPT-4o mini is significantly cheaper than previous models like GPT-3.5 Turbo, offering a cost-effective solution for various applications.

Versatile Applications: With a context window of 128K tokens and support for up to 16K output tokens per request, GPT-4o mini is ideal for customer support chatbots, real-time text interactions, and applications requiring multiple model calls.

Future Enhancements: Currently supporting text and vision inputs, OpenAI plans to include image, video, and audio inputs and outputs in the future. The improved tokenizer also makes handling non-English text more cost-effective.

Robust Safety Measures: OpenAI has embedded robust safety measures, including filtering out harmful content during pre-training and using reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF) to align the model’s behavior with safety policies. More than 70 external experts have tested the model to identify and mitigate potential risks.
