Gartic Phone Pro Tips

Have you ever wondered… How do these people come up with such incredible stuff in Gartic Phone? I MUST be missing something. Well, not even we know how some of you manage to pull off some things, but we wanted to share a few pro tips that might help you along the way.

Did you know there’s a grid hiding in plain sight? There’s no button for it on the screen; the only way to reveal it is to press the G key on your keyboard. And it gets better: press G multiple times to cycle through different grid scales. Whether you need a fine grid for precision work or a bigger one for general alignment, this hidden feature has you covered.

We’ve all been there… You’re trying to draw a straight line, and it ends up looking like a seismograph reading. The fix is simple: just hold the Shift key while drawing. This locks your shape, letting you create perfect straight lines, squares, and circles without any of the wobbly chaos. Your stick figures will never look the same again.

This one is especially useful for desktop players who love adding fine details to their drawings. Press + to zoom in and − to zoom out on the canvas. When you’re zoomed in and need to reposition, hold the spacebar to pan around freely. No more squinting at tiny details, get up close and make every pixel count.

If you’ve ever played Animation mode, you know how painful it is to redraw the same character from scratch every single frame. Here’s the trick: you don’t have to. Before starting the game, go to Animation Mode → Custom Settings → Keep Drawing → enable “All Drawings”. This carries your previous frame forward, so you only need to make small adjustments, a huge time-saver that takes your animations to the next level.

Still in Animation mode, you can also control how long each individual frame stays on screen during playback. By adjusting the timing in the animation playback settings (0x, 1x, 2x, 3x), you can give important frames more screen time or speed through transitions. It’s a small touch that makes the difference between a choppy flip-book and a smooth, satisfying animation.

Ever spent ages tweaking your Custom Settings to get everything just right, only to have to do it all over again next session? There’s a fix for that, too. After configuring your room, just hit the Copy button under Match Settings. This saves your entire setup so you can paste it next time and jump straight into the game, no more repetitive configuration before every match.
Now you have no excuses. Go forth and draw something incredible. Any issues you may face must be sent to team@gartic.com.
